Today is the official start of the 2019 MS Legislative Session and the Mississippi Black Women’s Roundtable will be walking through the hallways, offices, and chambers of the MS State Capitol to advocate for women’s rights and centering women’s economic security.
More than ever, we need our network to stand with us as we work to protect women’s wages through Equal Pay legislation, provide safer workplace environments for pregnant women, expand access to healthcare and reproductive health care for women, increase women’s wages including tip workers, expand protections for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, protect child care for low-income working women, and protect safety net programs for women and their families which include child care.
You can help us by making plans to support us on our Advocacy Day at the Capitol on Feb. 12. Share our information with your networks, join us at the capitol and let your voices be heard.
As the legislative session gets underway, we also invite you to track key legislation that we are following on our website here.
The time is NOW for a power shift in Mississippi. Stand with us!
Together in the Work,
Cassandra Overton Welchlin
